making healthy choices and trying to lose weight again with the iNSANITY workout!
|
|
hi girls! it been so long since my last visit or entry...
lots have changed since I last checked in...i'm now a secure solitary runner. i dont join marathons anymore. i just run on my own four times a week. I have gained weight and now trying to lose again. my sister got diagnosed with cancer so i'm more aware now of my eating choices.
weight wise...i'm on the 125 mark and want to get back to 117. you'll think that its easy for me to lose the weight..but NO! I've been stuck at the 125 for three weeks now.. i dont eat junk, i have brown rice instead of white (that's if i have any rice at all), no sweets except for the fresh vegeatable juice i take in the morning.
So, being stuck on the 125 mark got me thinking of what exerise i should do. So a friend of mine said that i should try the INSANITY workout by SHAUN T! Man...i've been on it for four days now and it is true to its name..it is INSANELY hard even the people in the video leave the floor to rest!
Cosidering that i'm a runner and cardio wise (i think) im okay, my body feels like it got run over by train! i feel stronger though but at the same time i feel HUNGRY! its like im burning more than i'm eating. operative word FEELS!
I'll wiegh in tom and see if i improved or stayed the same...
its good to be back and hope i hear from all you soon!

watching the pacman, junkfood, and facing my addiction!
|
|
okay fellow belles..we all know that fight yesterday brought out the most colorful kind of junk every invented by man...from marty's veggie chicaron to cheetos and of course my fave chippy! so how does a woman who vows to make healthy choices avoid all these junk? i went SHOPPING! no seriously...i saw all the unhealthy carbs on the table. men and women of all ages were munching in front of the tv. cheetos were being opened and soda was being passed around. thank God there was no beer! i decided to leave the enthusiastic crowd and head to the mall with my mother-in-law. My old self would rather eat cheetos than be with my mother in law but i figured that I rather be out of the house than fighting the evil of junk. So i spent two hours in the mall with my four year old in tow.
by the time we got home, the main fight just got started. so i simply would weave in and out of the room to check if our hero was winning. I fed myself and my kids while the fight was on. I told my children eating lunch is better than cheetos. my kids gave me the yay right look which i casually ignored.
so what is the moral of my story:
well, i decided (while talking to my diet buddy) that what i am doing is more of a lifestyle change. its really not a diet. So if its a lifestyle change..i'm in it for the long haul. So the not eating chips is a lifestyle change not just a diet thing.
another thing that helped me is accepting the fact that I am addicted to junk. that junk was a my addiction! so facing ones problem makes it easier to solve.
lastly, sharing and being with a group of people with the same goal helps in attaining and maintaining the goal..so for that..i thank belle and my diet buddy.
congratulations to pacman for winning the fight and congratulations to me for not eating cheetos yesterday!

poached fish for dinner
|
|
hi fellow belles..i came across this recipe in Yummy Magazine...but i lost the magazine before i can cook it to the letter. anyway, i still made it for dinner and it was fantastic..try it for a simple fish dinner..
Poached Dory with vegetable
preheat oven to 350 F
1. season fillet with salt and pepper
2. put fillet in a baking dish. on top of the fish put string beans, spinach, some basil leaves, cauliflower.
3. put around 2 cups of low sodium or home made chicken broth or until fish is submerged with poaching liquid.
4. bake until fish and veggies are cooked.
5. when fish is cooked..remove from oven. remove poaching liquid. arrange fish again in the pyrex. put veggies on top add low fat cheese.
6. put fish dish back in the oven. cook until cheese is melted.
serve with brown rice or wheat bread.
i promise i will take a picture when i make it again.

trying on jeans...
|
|
hey there fellow belles...just wanted to share my jean buying experience in hong kong. i use to be terrified of buying jeans..always had a tummy and waist problem. i always like the fit of asian jeans because it fits great..im too short for those american jeans! But i would always gravitate to the bigger sizes in asia..i think all asian women are tiny except for me!
anyway to cut the long story short..i was in hong kong last week and went into a giordano store. I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and bootcut. got a size 27, 28, and 29..you never know right? So here i go..oh 29 is too big..yah for me! Tried a 28 skinny and it fit just right. yah for me again. the biggest shocker was a size 26 bootleg pants..and it fits! I still bought a 27 bootcut so i can give myself room..cant be to overconfident, right?
What i learned from the experience...its good to have a healthy diet...the scale is not the end all be all of weight loss..because i just lost 7 pounds but my pant size went from size 29 to 27..in two months!
till the next shopping experience...
