Leftover Meal Idea No. 01

Roasted Chicken with Cauliflower

Looks and sounds fancy but it's a no-brainer to prepare. Promise.

I had this last week when we had roasted chicken leftovers and spare cauliflower in the vegetable crisper.

Ingredients:

roasted chicken, bones removed and cut to pieces

cauliflower florets, cut into smaller pieces

Procedure:

Heat a pan.

Throw in the florets and roast them.

Add the chicken.

Serve and enjoy.

Notes:

1. If you want to fry the cauliflower, use unsalted butter, canola oil,  olive oil or corn oil.

2. Sauteing the cauliflower with garlic and onion is good, too.

3. Some eat cauliflower and broccoli raw, so that's an another option but I haven't tried it yet.

4. No salt, please. The roasted chicken's already flavored anyway.

my diet for today, Monday, 16 January was...
Breakfast 2 slices white bread, egg and ham - ate them like a sandwich
  Lunch peanut butter sandwich
  Snack 2 bananas
Dinner 2 slices white bread, canned mackerel + onion
  Glasses of water 6

Rest Day and Cheat Day

No yoga and workout today. It wasn't planned though. My sister came over early this morning and was all ready to go to the mall. And since I've been cooped up all week inside the house, I couldn't pass the chance to go out. Of course I had to go with her!

I intented to exercise while she was busy chatting with our brother and our mom, but the video wasn't playing right so I ended up doing quick stretches for my spine and back instead.

Malling burns calories anyway and we walked quite a distance for hours so calories were definitely burned...

But then again...

The 16oz Black Pearl drink, takoyaki, one cup rice and crunchy chicken would've compensated for the calories I lost walking the whole day... Oh my, add the Piattos I just ate a few minutes ago. nyahahahaha.

Oh, well. Tomorrow is a brand new day! I'll just make up for it then... Besides, I had fun with my sister.

The highlight of our day: new mani at Nailaholics.

Sayonara, Fats!

On Tuesday, I finally took out my yoga mat and did the asanas I learned from the Bikram Yoga classes I attended in 2010.

There are 26 asanas or postures to go through and the whole routine should take 90 minutes to complete. There were a couple of asanas I now find very difficult to do and I was only able to complete the routine for 45 minutes BUT I was sweating a lot and I wasn't even in a hot room. So, "Yay!" for that.

And I also figured I'd have to do another exercise to lose more fats fast. Nothing drastic, though.

On Wednesday, I played the video my sister lent me. It was Les Mills' workout video she got from a box of Nestle Fitnesse. I tried it and I was already sweating a lot, only 10 minutes into the warm-up. I couldn't finish it because I was palpitating. But yesterday, I got through a couple of minutes more than I did the first day I tried it. Hopefully by next week I could finish the whole 20-minute program.

So, that's it. Yoga and the Les Mills workout. Two activities I could do inside my room. Love it!

Battle with the Tape Measure

i measured my waistline on monday. que horror! no wonder i couldn't fit in my skirts anymore. haha. i'll measure myself next monday to see if there's an improvement. i really want to wear my skirts again!

anyway, these are the things i'm doing to reclaim my "medium-sized" waistline:

>> drink more water. no more soda. i will repeat that: NO MORE SODA.

>> go easy on the carbs. i don't eat rice every meal anymore. if i do, it's only half a cup.

>> fruits. we always have fruits at home and i just have to remember to eat them!

>> sweat the fats off. this is the most important thing i have to do. i acknowledge that i have to get moving to get rid of the extra, extra fats i currently have... but no sports for me, please. no running, either.

Thinking about the "First Steps on this New Journey"

"What are some of the first steps you feel you need to take on this new journey?"

This was what gisaparedes asked on the comment she left on my last entry. I love the question. It's specific.

I'm still thinking about the answer though. Specific questions beg specific answers.

I'll reflect on it while working on a client's assignment...

--------------------------------

By the way, I had another "workout" today because of the ongoing clean-up of my room. The goal of clearing the space in the middle of the room was a success! Tomorrow, yoga! Wait!!! I have to find my "cheat sheet" of the asanas.

my diet for today, Monday, 9 January was...
Breakfast wheat bread + scrambled egg, coffee
Lunch rice + sinigang na salmon belly
  Snack brownies
  Dinner half-cup rice, nilaga
  Glasses of water 8
