Last night I went to bed with a sore body. I didnt think it was possible to ache from walking, but I'm pretty sure all this physical activity is doing something to me. I achieved a surprising 11883 steps on day 1 of the 7x7 challenge and on day 2 both my walks to and from the office only gained me 8831 steps.
Admittedly I was exhausted. I went to bed late the night before and I had to get up early to walk to work and function as well as I could. But this time I decided to pay attention to the present moment and appreciate the day that God had given me. What usually takes 15 minutes to walk stretched 20 minutes in the morning because I was busy appreciating nature. It was the same story walking back to the house in the afternoon. The breeze was nice and cool. I had missed walking down Acacia Ave, as I cut through empty lots and the usual drive ways.
One of the most beautiful things I've acquired from this 7x7 challenge is to return to the NOW. Walking has served as a time to reflect and pray. And for as long as I am able to happily stroll, then gaining steps shouldn't feel so much like a chore.
