Soon we arrived to our first destination: Bolinao. We took the cheapest and so far the cleanest place, Dutch Beach Resort, just near the beach. We enjoyed just relaxing under the sun, swimming in the blue water and listening to the continuous waves. But what made the day so enjoyable was the Public Beach of Patar which was 5 miles away our resort (and located in the very 'nose' of Luzon) because of the animated waves, party people, and the beautiful sunset reflecting from the sea.
Star-gazing at the shore
It was sundown, and we had to return to Dutch resort before dark. I was soaking wet and felt cold, but ironically it made me forget the chill when we rode a tricycle back to our place. While looking at the view from outside, I reminisced the fun we had. I couldn't forget the beautiful waves!
Back at the resort, we ate sardines for dinner and took a bath one by one. We didn't have hot bath but the cold water wasn't that bad and because I was already wet, I didn't shiver much. Afterwards we gathered together to the sandy shore outside the cottages. We lied down and looked at the sky. It was extremely dark because there were no lights around, literally. But the sky was cloudy so I failed to see some stars.
"Oh God, please show me a star..even just one," I whispered.
We waited for a star to come out, but there was none.
so the boys just did their favorite pastime: Play videogames and talk about nothing else but videogames!
I was getting bored...I couldn't see a thing above. But what else could I do? Besides, I'm starting to like my 'sand bed'...
Suddenly the clouds broke and a number of stars came out! I was so happy to see them that I called for the boys' attention. They were awed as well. Gradually, the clouds disappeared and the sky was filled with stars, like upsidedown citylights. It was the most-beautiful galaxy of stars I've ever seen in my life.
DAY TWO: THE ROADTRIP CONTINUES
Wake up, boys! It's 5:30am!
According to Ate Winnie, the innkeeper of the resort, the van terminal to Dagupan starts at 7am so we had to be there on time. So whether we liked it or not, we had to get up.
No more taking a bath for us because we had to pack up, eat breakfast and leave. The lazy boys did their part, except that they did it quite slowly.
It was 6:30am and we had to go. I walked to the seashore for the last time to bid goodbye to the astounding waves. I'm gonna miss Bolinao for sure.
LooOOoOong Roadtrip
We arrived at the van terminal and squeezed ourselves inside the vehicle. It took us almost 2 hours just to arrive at the destination. We took another bus at Victory Liner Dagupan at around 10am. And while waiting for the bus to leave, there were numerous vendors coming inside the vehicle to sell their goods. I got attracted to this apple that one vendor showed me. I thought it wouldn't be appropriate to eat without being washed yet so I didn't buy one. As I checked for the boys I saw them buying nuts, drinks and a burger! I even saw Ian eating the apple the vendor had!
Four long hours made us spend looking from outside the window and observing the people, passing vehicles, provincial bungalows, mountains and rice fields. It later exhausted us and wished that someday the bus would stop. Our stomachs were growling, and as we looked at people's heads they seemed to form into burgers and mountains as Hershey's kisses. Soon we found ourselves slowly spinning around the long zigzag road uphill. And after struggling against our wild imagination our wish was granted--the bus finally stopped. In front of us now was this checkpoint called CVV station. There were several souvenir goods, sweets and fruits displayed. I wasn't really looking for fruits right now, I'm after meat! I want BARBEQUE!
And just after screaming the magic word my wish came true again! On the front area was this barbeque stand where a crowd stood. I bought a couple of sticks that cost Php25 each. It was deliciously good because the meat was tender and there were no beef fats added. It was the tastiest barbeque I ever tasted in my life!
Solano break
Another couple of hours passed and we were deeply exhausted. There were a lot of puke on the floor (thanks, kids) and rain shower kept on pouring outside. Soon the bus stopped at a small town called Solano where it would probably give us another couple of hours more to Banawe. Shall we move on?
It's 5pm according to Jophet's watch. If we continue our route to Banawe, it might take us forever. In fact, we were dizzy enough to catch another zigzag road. So I guess staying here for the night would be the best thing to do.
We decided to take a tricycle ride to the nearest hotel where we could spend the night. The driver took us to an inn with a yellowgreen and royalblue sign that read "AM/PM". As we entered the place, we were pleased to see its comfortable ambiance--a 3-floor building with furnished wooden doors, gold-plated knobs and clean surroundings. We took 2 rooms for 3 people each; door number 22 and 23. As we entered, we were happy to see a well-cleaned airconditioned room, dim lights, a ceiling fan and hot shower. There's even cable TV! And guess what--all these pampering for Php600 a night. That meant Php200 a night for each of us. Now that's cheap!
Dinner at a carinderia
Soon the moon was up, and there was silence all over. The other boys took a nap while some of them never stopped playing their favorite videogames. At last, everyone decided to take something to eat. We went outside to walk and see what's cooking. Just a few steps away AM/PM hotel stood a carinderia nearby. It caught much of our curiosity to see a lot of people coming in this food stall so we thought it might be one of the best in Solano. We entered and sat inside. We ordered beef noodles, congee and beef tapa. For just 5 minutes our food was served. And when we tasted our orders we also finished them in a few minutes! I enjoyed the beef noodles a lot. Well, the boys not only loved the food, they also enjoyed the view where some chics ate near us!

Next: It's Banawe time!
