This no sweets thing isn't so bad, it's quite bearable... until you get home that is!
My dinner was met with pecan crusted quezo cream topped with mango slices. Let that sink in for a moment. You can only imagine the taste of this mouth watering piece of heaven.
I was the architect of my own undoing, since I helped create this monstrosity a few days earlier. Thank God there was only just enough left - my family quickly gobbled up the remains.
I didn't realize my craving could get this intense - especially when placed in front of me. Maybe there should be an Alcoholics Anonymous equivalent for my condition. Maybe could call it Sweet-tooth Sympathers?
Hi, my name is JM... and I'm a Sweetaholic. A Dessertarian. A Sugarjunkie.
With the launch of the No Sweets Challenge this week, my Achilles Heel has been pushed to the fore!
The first test of my will - Breakfast. Thick, hot tsokolate with pandesal. Torture. I piled on the eggs, spam and rice quickly to tear myself away from the sweet aroma permeating the table.
Lunch went by fine, until merienda, when I had to forego my daily Saba Con Hielo fix.
God in His Infinite Goodness manifested His mercy in the form of fresh fruits at the office. Never has a mango tasted so delicious. I helped myself to several servings.
I was FINALLY able to finish a video of a trip to I took to Dumaguete last November, for 7101 Music Nation's Elements National Songwriting Camp - check it out!

If you've never sparred before - images of your face getting hammerd with a hook or an uppercut knocking you to the ground can really mess with your imagination.
Luckily, my first sparring match was nothing like this. In fact, Jonas, my trainer & sparring partner (much smaller than me) - was too nice! He would intentionally open his defense to give me easy punches. On the other hand, I must admit I was a bit too cautious, played it safe & paced myself to last all 4 rounds.
I was able to land a few good hits (and took some as well!) - giving me some neck aches the next day. Overall, it was a great experience & and nice dynamic change from bags & mitts... boxing with a person that actually hits back!

The Philippines is blessed with so many natural & cultural treasures - it's definitely a dream of mine to to visit them all (along with other great destinations of the world!).
Here's a video I got to work on of our company going to Donsol - an amazing experience swimming with Whalesharks.
*Special thanks to Stephane Morel for lending the Go Pro camera!
...and of course Anxa and the Community & Culture team for making this adventure possible :)

I've been able to do one weight-training & one boxing session every week for May, which is ok... but ideally, the 5x5 program should be three weight sessions per week.
I'm thinking of shifting to pure weights once my boxing membership expires, in order to reach my weight gain goals :) Current weights:
Busy busy weekend with my family helping out with the El Pasubat Festival in Taal, Batangas! Nope, not the one next to Taal volcano, but the one next to the town of Lemery (the town was moved several times throughout history because of several volcanic eruptions!).
El Pasubat stands for the food & local products of Taal - Empanada, Longganisa, Panucha, Suman, Barong / Burda, Balisong, among others :)
Haven't gotten the chance to offload some photos, so in the meantime, you can check out the video I made for the Angat Dagat Eco Festival (formerly Captain Planet Camp) - held last February in Real, Quezon.
