TRYING NEW THINGS CAN GIVE YOU SUCCESS! :)

“BluPrint Magazine, the country’s premier design magazine published by MEGA Publishing Group, celebrated the Annual Visionary Design Competition (AViD) on its 3rd year in partnership with SM; the country's retail industry giant. The magazine’s target audience has grown from professional designers to a growing demographic of discerning general readers interested in the latest in design trends and the best in modern architecture, contemporary interiors, tropical landscapes, innovative furniture and cutting edge graphic design. This is AViD's them for this year's competition, to design a National Pavilion that shall be the center of the world's focus on everything the Philippines is all about--culture, arts, and a seat for investments and industries.”- Bluprint Website

Last September, while surfing the net I found the advertisement of AViD in a social networking site. After I read the details, the thought of joining in the said competition came to my mind. I invited my classmates and friends to join the competition, and without hesitation they said yes. We just like to join for a new experience. Then after that conversation, we started to have short meetings at least every end of the day. Working in a group is not easy because you have different point of views and concepts, but with the help of our mentor- Arch. Christian Pineda, who guided us all through out, we were able to finalize our concepts and ideas. After we finalized our concept, we started working with our entry. There was a time that we thought we would not be able to finish our work because of our schedules. Another hindrance is a lot of school works, but we still did our best and finished our entry. When we submitted our work we never thought of winning. Last November 20, 2011, good news arrived! My classmate told us that we made it to the top 10. It was like whoah! At first we don’t believe him and we keep saying “ikaw.. joke time ka talaga.” We can’t believe that we made it from so many entries from different schools. Then the night of November 21, 2011, we saw our work posted in the social networking site for online voting. The entry with the highest number of votes will get the “People’s Choice Award.” We never thought of winning of the said award, but with the help of Adamson Community, our entry had so many votes. Last November 24, 2011, the most awaited moment arrived! The announcement of winners! The awards night held at the Skydome, SM North Edsa. After school we went straight to the Award’s Night. Almost everyone was dressed in semi-formal attire and we were in our uniforms. When they announced that we made it to the top 5 finalist in Young Professional category or the Student category, we felt really happy. After announcing the top 5 finalist, they announced the winners. The next situation was like Taddaaaaaa! We were the 1st runner-up for Young Professional category and we won the People’s Choice Award! We can’t explain our feelings. We felt very very happy for ourselves as well as for the Adamson Architecture. We made it! We gave our school pride and honor. WE DIDN’T EXPECT THAT TRYING NEW THINGS WILL GIVE US SUCCESS! J
