I love the way my muscles hurt after a good workout! It makes me feel like I accomplished something and reminds me to keep moving (even if it hurts haha).
Last weekend, I tried wakeboarding in CWC. Despite maybe the dozen faceplants I had to go through, it was definitely worth it. My face and neck were hurting like crazy from falling over and over again on my face but the rush you get when you finally get to stand up and make a whole round on the cable makes it all ok.
I was so scared when I finally stood up because right at that moment is when I realized "Oh sh*t! Nobody taught me how to steer this thing!" Hahaha. I almost hit the ramps TWICE. And it happened at the farthest point from the dock. So the actual wakeboarding part isn't the only workout, but walking back with your board when you fall is one too! That thing can get really heavy.
I'm back in Manila now and the pain in my body is a welcome reminder of my amazing weekend. My legs, arms, neck and shoulders really hurt. But that's not all, I think I pulled a muscle in my butt too. Hahaha. What a place to have a pulled muscle, right? I can only imagine what people think when they see me walking with my hand on my right butt cheek!
Wakeboarding is a serious, good workout for arms and legs (and for your butt too, apparently). The only thing I noticed from my experience and talking to the pro wakeboarders there is that it really doesn't do anything for your core. The women's #1 wakeskater in the Philippines was telling me she has to strengthen her core because it's weak compared to the rest of her body.
If you ever get the chance to wakeboard, I suggest you take it! You'll have so much fun!
