 Hot Holiday Looks

Apart from Halloween, the holiday season is one of the best times of the year to experiment with more fun and daring looks. You'll want to stand out and look fantastic for the countless parties and functions you will be attending.

Before we start, I would like to let you know that I am not a makeup professional, but I do love makeup and I spend countless hours watching beauty vlogs (the Pixiwoo sisters and Michelle Phan are among the most popular), reading beauty magazines, and going through the latest makeup collections. You'll find that the looks I am sharing with you will be easy to follow and provide maximum results!

The Classic

The red lip and winged liner combo is one of the most popular looks for good reason. It's universally flattering and can be easily modified to suit your taste.

The first step is to pick a flattering red lipstick shade. If you're hesitant to wear red lipstick, pick a gloss or stain as these will be more subtle.

The winged liner is pretty simple. Pick your liner of choice and trace a line as close to the lash line.  Extend it a little past your eye and flicking upward. If you're having a tough time keeping a straight line, try short strokes and then going over it. Or stick your tongue out while lining your eye. Don't ask me why, but for some reason, that really helps a lot of people.

Smoked Out

apply smokey eyes

Smokey looks are super simple to do. You will need 2 shades of shadow-- one pale and a shimmery dark brown, grey, or even dark green color.  With a brush or clean fingers, pat the shadow on your lids and softly along your lower lash line. Use the pale shade to highlight under your brow and the inside corner of your eyes.

Generally, you will want to keep the rest of your face subtle. Pros will usually tell you to pick a pale lipstick shade, but unless you take the time to find a good one, pale shades will wash out most Filipinas. Instead, try a clear or sparkly gloss with a hint of color.

Shimmer

This is the simplest way to add drama or some holiday cheer to your makeup look! I’ve done this countless times when I’m rushing to a party.  Pack a shimmery gold or silver shadow and dark liner. Add a layer of shimmer on top of your usual shadow (or even on bare lids) and add liner around your eyes. Instant party! You can even add shimmer to the bow and center of your lips as a highlight. Finish with sparkly gloss or lipstick and you’re ready to mingle

What’s your favorite makeup look for the holidays?
