I've actually been fine with missing dessert.
Instead, I've been having trouble finding snacks. Everything that I usually eat as a snack is prohibited!
Confession time—all those times when I claimed to not have any dessert during the day? I sometimes cheat by having dessert for breakfast! I grew up having cake, pie, cookies, and kakanin for breakfast on occasion. That's how I held up, with my sweet tooth. Lately, I've been having panettone with Nutella for breakfast, but that combo is so sweet that I get a headache...I've since learned to eat a much smaller portion. =P I've also been having Vietnamese coffee and condensed milk last week, but now I'm back to my bitter coffee ways. I can drink coffee straight up black, as long as it's good coffee!
Since last night, here's what I ended up nibbling on, since I couldn't have my usuals of ensaymada, cookies, or chocolate milk:
Mushroom chips - fried oyster mushrooms in garlic. These are so addictive.
Chicharon - I only had 3-4 pieces, really.
Cracker nuts - Oops. It was either these or junk food or instant noodles.
I'm not fond of crackers and fresh fruit at all, so I didn't choose those at the canteen.
I'm going to do what Gisa did and pack a snack. Since I don't like fruit, I might bring a hard-boiled egg and my jar of truffle salt to work tomorrow. Mmm, now I'm pretty excited, for once, to eat a hard-boiled egg.
